Event Tuesday, May 21 at Victory Lane Karting in Charlotte
It is known in all realms of racing that Richard Petty is “The King.”  The seven-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion is an iconic figure all across America.  Each year Richard Petty takes time out of his busy schedule to honor those who have suffered in the Line of Duty while fighting for our country.  On Tuesday, May 21, Richard Petty will serve as Grand Marshal of the “King’s Cup - Karting with a Cause” event at Victory Lane Karting in Charlotte, NC.  The event will benefit Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Returning to the event this year is NASCAR television broadcaster for SPEED & FOX Sports, Bob Dillner.

"We are thrilled to announce Bob Dillner as the official emcee of the 5th Annual King's Cup -- Karting for a Cause at Victory Lane Indoor Karting in Charlotte, NC on Tuesday, May 21,” said Mindy Walker, organizer of the event.  “With his wealth of NASCAR knowledge, engaging personality and long-time supporter of The King's Cup and Paralyzed Veteran of America, we look forward to this exciting event to come!"

“I missed the event the last two years after being part of it for the first two so I am excited to return,” said Dillner.  “I enjoy speaking with the Veterans who fought for our country.  I have learned so many engaging stories and met so many great people through this event.  And you can’t go wrong working with Richard Petty.  He and the veterans are true heroes.”

Many NASCAR stars will be attending the event, including Aric Almirola, Marcos Ambrose, Ryan Blaney, Michael Annett, Sam Hornish Jr., Joey Logano and Sprint Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski.

The event will start at 4pm and conclude around 9:30pm.  There will be door prizes, a silent auction and plenty of fun for all.

The highlight of the evening will be 30 teams competing in a karting event that will consist of two one-hour heat races that will determine the 16-team shootout field.  The final race will be a 1.5-hour endurance event with 16 qualifiers total.  Each team will be comprised of six drivers; all drivers will be required to complete at least 1 segment.
